I've heard it said that the only constant thing in life is change. At this time of year, as the days become shorter, the morning air is turning crisp making it necessary to pull out our warm sweaters and scarves to fend off the chill. The familiar scent of wood smoke from warm fires burning on the hearth is becoming more common in the evening air. Autumn has blown its way into the North Bay and the leaves on the trees are changing from green to gold. Pumpkin patches have emerged amid the drying cornstalks on the outskirts of town, and soon, Thanksgiving will arrive with scents of cinnamon and freshly baked apple pies. Then, as it does each year, fall will give way to winter and the earth will rest as it prepares for the coming of spring. I love the earth’s shifting seasons, but for many of us, change is an uncomfortable feeling...
