Compassion
My Portion
"I well remember them, and my soul is downcast within me. Yet this I call to mind and therefore
I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, 'The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.'" (Lamentations 3:20-24)
Oh Lord, you see my heart. Your compassion is great as you know the sorrow within me. Thank you for the hope you give. You are all that I need! I am waiting upon you, Lord, knowing that you have great love for me and for all your people. I am trusting you, for you are forever faithful. I will not be consumed, because you are with me! Thank you, Father, for the strength and the power you give when we call upon your name.
Through Christ our Lord, amen.

ReplyDeleteThis seems to be a recurring theme on the blogs I'm hopping around to today. I know it's not by coincidence. Lord, continue to infuse hope into me so I can give it back to others.

ReplyDeleteSometimes, when we're downcast, hope is a conscious choice, a willful re-focusing on the Truth of God's great love and tender mercies, a determination to remember His faithfulness.

Joan, this is such a great Scripture to hold onto during the trials. I have found another one from Exodus that has carried me through many dark days. "The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin." Exodus 34:5&6and part of 7. A great insight the Lord gave me was that through the dictionary. The word compassion means: a conscious awareness of one's distress with a desire to alleviate it. Well, our Lord not only has the desire but the power to alleviate our distress. That brings me tremendous comfort.
