Today, while visiting Tracy Teppler's encouraging blog, Encourage 24/7, I was challenged by guest blogger, Ceil, of Evangelize to Me, to consider the things that I believe. Like Ceil, there are so many things that I believe and know to be true.  In fact, I had written a post about this very subject a year or so ago.  After going through my blog files, I pulled out my list of "I believes" again.  I ended up encouraging myself by reviewing and remembering what I have learned over the years! Often we can get so caught up in the cares of the day that we momentarily "forget" the truths that God instills in us.  So today, as I reflect on my faith and what I believe, I pray that you are also encouraged as you reflect on truths God has shown you.

I Believe...
That we should celebrate everyday,
for everyday is a gift from God.

I Believe...
That we are responsible for what we do,
no matter how we feel.

I Believe...
That either you allow God to
control your attitude,
or it controls you.

I Believe...
That it's taking me a long time to become
the person I want to be.
But, I'm still breathing, so God's not done with me yet.

I Believe...
That sometimes the people you expect
to kick you when you're down,
will be the ones to put out their hands
and help you get back up.

I Believe...
That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences we've had,
and what we've learned from them...
and less to do with how many
birthdays we've celebrated.

I Believe...
That sin costs more than we ever expect to pay.

I Believe...
That you can never fall so far
that you are beyond the reach of God.

I Believe...
That though we sometimes fail,
God's love covers a multitude of sins.

I Believe...
That you can't merely go around your grief,
you have to go through it to heal.

I Believe...
That though we travel through difficult waters,
God will give us the strength to swim.

I Believe...
That when we feel the loneliest,
God is still right beside us.

I Believe...
That though others may fail us,
God's love never ends.

I Believe...
That all things happen for a reason,
though we may never know their purpose.

I Believe...
That miracles happen every day.

I Believe...
That when we open our broken hearts to God,
His healing love rushes in.

I Believe...
That when we give our lives to the Lord,
we breathe for the very first time.

I Believe...
"That love never gives up, never loses faith,
is always hopeful, and endures through
every circumstance."  (1 Corinthians 13:7)

I Believe...

  2. Oh Joan, these are so great! You really thought a lot about this post, and I loved reading through your "I believe" list. I especially liked the one that said the people you expect to kick you down can actually give you a hand up.

I believe that, but just with a twist. "I believe that encouragement doesn't usually come from the people you'd expect to give it." I found that to be so true!

Thank you for this post, and mentioning my blog. I am going to follow you by email! I hope you'll be a frequent visitor to Evangelize too. It's be great to get to know you better :)
