I’m laughing now, but a couple of days ago I was kicking myself for writing my last post! You see, I wrote about having a stress-free move and how I was remembering to take time to breathe and let God be God. No sooner had I published it than things started to go sideways! Circumstances arose which delayed paperwork signing and I was caused to wonder if the timing would make it so we would have no place to live for a while! As soon as that thought hit my mind, though, I pushed it out, knowing that our God always provides. I must admit, however, that I could feel the tension level building inside me. It was almost as if I were being asked to practice what I preach. Well, not almost…I know I was!

“But don't just listen to God's word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves” (James 1:22).

For several days, we were in a state of turmoil as obstacle upon obstacle was placed in our path. I would wake in the night and start to worry, all the while remembering that I had just been so proud of myself for not doing that very thing only a week ago! I knew that I needed to get on my knees and give this situation and my anxiety to the Lord. And let me tell you, I prayed! As I came before God, giving each problem and each worry over to Him, a sense of peace slowly began to spread over me once again.

As I prayed and released my burdens to Him, a still small voice inside me kept on repeating “trust, trust”. And so I did. I reminded myself that even if we didn’t get the keys when we had planned, God would still be with us. He doesn’t come and go depending on how easy or hard our life is...He is always there, right by our side. I needed to trust that He had everything under control and I was just wasting my energy and strength by worrying.

“Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done” (Philippians 4:6).

God has a plan in all things. We don’t always know what His plan is, but we can trust Him that it is always good! He has proved His faithfulness over and over in my life and I am so thankful! I don’t know why we came up against roadblocks during this move, but I can count on God to see us through. He has everything under control even when things seem to be whirling out of “my” control. By trusting Him, my peace is restored and my faith grows. I am so thankful for our God and the lessons He is teaching me as I follow Him.

Remembering to Trust,

Oh Joan!  This post reminds me of our recent move.  We sold our old house before we moved into our new house 7 months ago, but there were so many hiccups with the estate agents and our selling solicitor!  The buyer almost pulled out because our solicitor forgot to post paperwork before he went on holiday which left the interested house buyer wondering if we had accepted his offer or not and in a legal situation where he could have withdrawn his offer and pulled out of the sale.  To make matters worse, a house (same as ours - condition and all) went on the market at almost £10K less than we were selling ours for... It would have been very attractive for the buyer to pull out and put in an offer on the lesser priced house instead!!!  However, it all worked out in the end... the Lord was in control regardless of the terrible service we received from our estate agent and solicitor.  It's never plain sailing but the Lord overrules :D

  3. Difficulties should drive us closer to God - humble, surrendered and trusting, just like what you did. They come to remind us that we are never alone in every endeavor we set our hearts into, but He's in the middle of it all, if only we stand still, commune with Him, and then wait in faith.

  4. Great post. Really needed it this week. God bless.

    Encouraging Thoughts for Life

  5. Hi Joan, thanks so much for your post. I think we can all relate to this subject, my friend :) You are in my prayers and sending hugs your way.

  6. Trust! Trust! Trust! That's what faith is all about. It sure is a battle sometimes, though. Sometimes a 24/7 battle. Praying for peace and home this week!

  7. Hi Joan - it is so true that once we make a statement of faith, we kind of get tested on it!  Well, so long as we turn to the Lord, He will use it to make us grow!  Great post and I hope your moving in is far smoother than moving out :)
    God bless

How I can relate Joan; worrying is such time wasted and is one of the least productive activities we can do, but it is also one of the hardest things not to do!  If only we could remember and trust God's promise that all we need will be provided in His good timing all the time because I am pretty sure that He knows what He is doing! :)Blessings and peace on your move and settling in!Denise

  9. Hi Wendy!  I'm glad your recent move worked out!  You are right...even when things go sideways, the Lord rules over all!  I am so thankful for that!

  10. Yes, I have discovered that as well!  Through challenges in my life, I have grown so much closer to the Lord...and that is an incredible blessing!

  11. Thanks, Anita!  Your prayers (and hugs!) are so appreciated!

  12. Trust and faith go hand in hand, don't they?  When we trust our faith grows and when we have faith, it is easier to trust!  Thank you for your prayers...it already feels like home!

  13. Good morning, Tracy!  Yes, things have smoothed out once I turned everything over to the Lord!  He makes going through challenges so much easier, doesn't He?

  14. Thanks, Denise!  I agree...worrying is such a fruitless activity!  Why do we do it?  It doesn't solve anything!!  When we turn things over to the Lord, we can trust that He will take care of things they way they should be taken care of!  That is such an encouragement!  Blessings!

  15. I, too, have written a post and then turned around to have to make decisions contrary to what I just wrote about!  Part of it has to be chalked up to life, - how what we think before us an be changed in a moment.   I'm so thankful that God is always ahead of us, behind us, and with us all the way.

  16. I'd be lost without Him!  I'm so grateful for His guidance!

  17. Hazel MoonMay 21, 2012

Wow, I can remember at least one move that was similar and not so fun.  We ended up camping out in a camp trailer for a few weeks until all was ready.  God always provides his time table is different than ours at times.

  18. This year my word is "trust".  Within the first two weeks of the year, that trust was tested, but everything worked out okay. I have clung to the promise found in Philipplians 4:6 many times.

  19. Praise God that He is in control and that He is perfectly trustworthy! May we rest in His perfect grace.
    Love in Him,

    Laurie, Saved by Grace

  20. Yes, praise God!  I am so comforted knowing that it is all in His capable hands!

  21. Stopping by a little late this week, but just wanted to let you know,  you continue to be in my prayers. I most likely will be in need of your prayers for the same thing in the same thing in the next several weeks! I'm already anxious to move, but we've got quite a ways to go, till then. Praising God for His love, protection, and goodness!!

    In His Lo♥e, Ann

  22. Joan DavisMay 23, 2012

Thank you so much, Ann! I am so thankful for your prayers! Our move in went well and I'm sure I'll have a post about it soon! Keep me posted on your move as I will joyfully pray for you! In Him, Joan

  23. Yes, God always provides!  And like you said...we just need to realize that His timetable is different than ours!  Blessings!  Joan

P.S.  I'll see if I can fix the link-up error...

  24. Oh Joan, I really do understand!  Trust was my word for 2011 and adventure is mine for 2012.  I've had a struggle with both!

Moving is very stressful.  But God does provide.  I am trying to work through the many boxes still piled high with no room to unload them.  But then I remember I really didn't miss all the stuff anyway.

We will both get through this time together.

    Blessings and love,
