Super-Saturation
I stepped onto my treadmill this morning, turned on my iPod and I smiled as praise music filled my ears. Besides having a new determination to be healthy physically, I have also received a fresh determination to be super-saturated with God! My desire is to become so flooded with the Word and everything that surrounds the Lord that it can’t be contained within me! During this intentional pursuit of Him, I have discovered that the more I focus on things that glorify God, the stronger my desire to be closer to Him becomes. And, as a result, I find myself in the middle of a deep, soaking, supernatural “rain”!
My experience is not dissimilar to what those of us here in northern California have been going through. For this region, it has been a rather dry winter, but for the past week, we have been in the middle of quite a big, much needed, storm. The rain has continued almost non-stop and the ground has become so saturated with water that streams are overflowing and puddles are stretching across the roads! Even if we were not to actually see the rain coming down from the sky, the effects would still be obvious as there isn’t a dry piece of ground anywhere. This life-giving water is quenching a thirsty land and preparing it to produce a great harvest in the months to come.
Besides listening to praise music while I exercise, I have also been incorporating things of God in all other aspects of my life. As I rest, I meditate upon His word. As I study, His word becomes written on my heart. My prayer time is becoming richer and more meaningful as I purposely direct my attention to Him throughout the day. There are so many more ways to remind ourselves of God, His love and the blessings He showers on us! Bible verses and inspirational art tucked into each room, on our desks at work, or even in our cars, is a great visual reminder. Free mp3 downloads to put on iPods (or to listen to on the computer) are a great encouragement as we can then listen to messages and lessons from Christian teachers anytime and anywhere -- Not to mention the joy of worship, serving, and reaching out to others! The idea is to be constantly reminded of His presence and of His love so we will be so full of Him that His love overflows from within us.
What other ways have you found to super-saturate yourselves with the Lord? I pray that you are blessed as you consciously pursue God and a deep, meaningful relationship with Him.
Loving the rain,

“But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night” (Psalm 1:2).
“He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers” (Psalm 1:3).
